SERIES NOTES
‣ ¾Detroit’s first regular season
game, as well as its last, at the
Pontiac Silverdome was played
against Dallas. The Cowboys won
the Monday Night contest 36-
10 October 6, 1975 during the
Silverdome’s inaugural regular
season game and the Lions won the
finale 15-10 on January 6, 2002.
‣ ¾The Lions have won nine of the
last 16 regular season meetings
with Dallas, in addition to Detroit’s
38-6 win in the 1991 Divisional
Playoff game.
‣ ¾The Lions and Cowboys have
squared off twice in postseason
play, with each team claiming
victory on its own turf. The first
postseason contest occurred
December 26, 1970 with Dallas
posting a 5-0 shutout against
Detroit.
‣ ¾The Lions captured the victory in
the second playoff contest when
they defeated the Cowboys, 38-6,
at the Silverdome January 5, 1992.
‣ ¾Lions RB Barry Sanders set a Lions
record for carries in a game (40) in
a Monday Night contest in Dallas
on September 19, 1994. The Lions
won the game 20-17 in overtime.
‣ ¾The Lions overcame a 24-point
deficit in the third quarter and beat
the Cowboys, 34-30, on October
2, 2011. The Lions returned two
interceptions for touchdowns in the
second half to spark the comeback.
‣ ¾The Lions tied a NFL-record for
a road team with a 24-point
comeback win at Dallas October 2,
2011. With 20+-point comebacks in
consecutive weeks, Detroit became
the first team in NFL history to
accomplish that feat.
‣ ¾In a dramatic 31-30 come-from-
-behind victory for the Lions on
October 27, 2013, WR Calvin
Johnson set a franchise record
with 329 receiving yards and tied a
franchise record with 14 receptions.
His 329 yards rank second all-time
behind WR Flipper Anderson (336)
for the most receiving yards in a
single game.
‣ ¾Detroit set a new franchise
record in the team’s Wild Card
game at Dallas (1/4/15) as the
team registered six sacks (51
yards) against the Cowboys. DT
Ndamukong Suh recorded two
of the team’s sacks in the game,
setting a new Lions postseason
record for the most sacks in a
postseason game since sacks
became official in 1982.
