‣ The Istanbul Convention requires that States ensure<br />

“that measures may be adopted <strong>to</strong> protect the<br />

privacy and the image of the victim”. 623<br />

‣ The UN Handbook for Legislation on Violence<br />

against Women suggests that courts should be able<br />

<strong>to</strong> place a “gag on all publicity regarding individuals<br />

involved in the case, with applicable remedies for<br />

non-compliance”. 624<br />

‣ The Istanbul Convention requires that States ensure<br />

“protection orders for victims and witnesses:<br />

providing for their protection, as well as that of their<br />
