making any pertinent recommendations. However, the Rules of<br />

Procedure provide that the Court may follow up on its<br />

judgments and moni<strong>to</strong>r its execution through reports of the<br />

State Party and observations of the victims or their<br />

representatives. The Court may request additional information<br />

from other sources and, if it deems it appropriate, convoke a<br />

hearing with the State and the victims’ representatives in order<br />

<strong>to</strong> moni<strong>to</strong>r the compliance with its decisions. At the hearing,<br />

the Court will hear also the opinion of the Commission. After<br />

the hearing, the Court may determine the state of compliance<br />

and issue appropriate orders. 935<br />

In the African system, the Committee of Ministers of the African<br />

Union is mandated by the treaty establishing the Court <strong>to</strong><br />

moni<strong>to</strong>r the execution of the judgments of the African Court<br />

on Human and Peoples’ Rights, once the Court is<br />

operational. 936<br />

The other bodies, whether universal or regional, apart from the<br />

Human Rights Committee and the CERD, have procedures <strong>to</strong><br />

assure follow-up on the implementation of their<br />

recommendations.<br />

The Committee against Torture and the CERD invite the<br />

State, when communicating their decision, <strong>to</strong> provide<br />

information on their implementation and may appoint one or<br />

more Special Rapporteur(s) <strong>to</strong> follow up and report on it. 937<br />

CESCR and CEDAW establish an obligation of the State <strong>to</strong><br />

report within six months, in writing, any action taken in light of<br />

the views and recommendations, and specifically provide that<br />
