the State Party may be invited <strong>to</strong> include further information in<br />

its periodic report <strong>to</strong> the Committee. 938<br />

The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, once it<br />

has published a report on a friendly settlement or on the merits<br />

in which it has made recommendations, may adopt any followup<br />

measures it deems appropriate, such as requesting<br />

information from the parties and holding hearings in order <strong>to</strong><br />

verify compliance with friendly settlement agreements and its<br />

recommendations. The Commission will report on progress in<br />

complying with any such agreements and recommendations as<br />

it deems appropriate. 939<br />

The European Committee on Social Rights will require the<br />

concerned State <strong>to</strong> provide information about the<br />

implementation of the Committee of Ministers’ recommendation<br />

in the periodic report it submits on the implementation of the<br />

Charter. 940<br />

IV. Reporting procedures<br />

International reporting mechanisms do not bar the applicants<br />

from bringing cases <strong>to</strong> quasi-judicial or judicial mechanisms.<br />

Although they do not have the capacity <strong>to</strong> address an individual<br />

situation, their use might be important in light of a case<br />

brought under them. This may be because reports by these<br />

bodies might inform a judicial or quasi-judicial mechanism on<br />

the country situation, or because it will be possible <strong>to</strong> signal the<br />

case <strong>to</strong> these bodies both <strong>to</strong> exercise political pressure on the<br />

national authorities and contribute <strong>to</strong> their analysis of the<br />

country situation. This last outcome is particularly significant<br />

given that individual cases might take some years <strong>to</strong> be<br />

resolved in an international venue, and that reports on country<br />
