We rest the foundation of the Sabbatic
institution upon its sanctification before the fall of
man; the fourth commandment is its great citadel
of defense; its place in the midst of the moral law
beneath the mercy-seat shows its relation to the
atonement and its immutable obligation.

3. The Bible abounds with facts which establish
this proposition. Thus the psalmist in an
address to Jerusalem, uses the following
language: "He giveth snow like wool; he
scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes. He casteth
forth his ice like morsels; who can stand
before his cold? He sendeth out his word, and
melteth them; he causeth his wind to blow, and
