week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene."<br />

Luke uses <strong>the</strong> following language:--<br />

"And <strong>the</strong>y returned <strong>and</strong> prepared spices <strong>and</strong><br />

ointments, <strong>and</strong> rested <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sabbath</strong> day according to<br />

<strong>the</strong> comm<strong>and</strong>ment. Now upon <strong>the</strong> first day <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

week, very early in <strong>the</strong> morning, <strong>the</strong>y came unto<br />

<strong>the</strong> sepulcher, bringing <strong>the</strong> spices which <strong>the</strong>y had<br />

prepared, <strong>and</strong> certain o<strong>the</strong>rs with <strong>the</strong>m."<br />

<strong>John</strong> bears <strong>the</strong> following testimony:--<br />

"The first day <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> week cometh Mary<br />

Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto <strong>the</strong><br />

sepulcher, <strong>and</strong> seeth <strong>the</strong> stone taken away form <strong>the</strong><br />

sepulcher. . . . Then <strong>the</strong> same day at evening, being<br />

<strong>the</strong> first day <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> week, when <strong>the</strong> doors were shut<br />

where <strong>the</strong> disciples were assembled for fear <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Jews, came Jesus <strong>and</strong> stood in <strong>the</strong>ir midst, <strong>and</strong> saith<br />

unto <strong>the</strong>m, Peace be unto you." (Matt. 28:1; Mark<br />

16:1, 2, 9; Luke 23:56; 24:1; <strong>John</strong> 20:1, 19)<br />
