who says <strong>of</strong> that portion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m who were called<br />

Cathari:--<br />

"They are also divided amongst <strong>the</strong>mselves; so<br />

what some <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m say is again denied by<br />

o<strong>the</strong>rs."[20]<br />

And Crosby make a similar statement:--<br />

"There were several sects <strong>of</strong> Waldenses or<br />

Albigenses, like as <strong>the</strong>re are <strong>of</strong> Dissenters in<br />

Engl<strong>and</strong>. Some <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se did deny all baptism,<br />

o<strong>the</strong>rs only <strong>the</strong> baptism <strong>of</strong> infants. That many <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong>m were <strong>of</strong> this latter opinion, is affirmed in<br />

several histories <strong>of</strong> this people, as well ancient as<br />

modern."[21]<br />

Some <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir enemies affirm that <strong>the</strong>y reject<br />

<strong>the</strong> Old Testament; but o<strong>the</strong>rs, with much greater<br />

truthfulness, bear a very different testimony.[22]<br />

Thus a Romish inquisitor, as quoted by Allix, bears<br />

testimony concerning those in Bohemia:--<br />
