Remember, job-hunting always involves luck, to some degree. But with a<br />

little bit of luck, a lot of hard work, and determination on your part, these<br />

instructions thus far in this book, should work for you, as they have<br />

worked for so many hundreds of thousands before you. 3<br />

But. Maybe it won’t. Maybe you’ll faithfully follow everything in these<br />

first five chapters, and you still can’t find a job. Tempting, at that point, to<br />

think it’s just the sluggish economy, isn’t it? The only irritating little fact:<br />

there were ten million vacancies last month. Why didn’t you get one of<br />

them?<br />

There must be something different that you can do. Right?<br />

There sure is.<br />

That’s what the rest of this book is about.<br />

1. One job-hunter said his interviews always began with the salary question, and no<br />

matter what he answered, that ended the interview. Turned out, this job-hunter was<br />

doing all the interviewing over the phone. That was the problem. Once he went<br />

face-to-face, salary was no longer the first thing discussed in the interview.<br />

Before I read this book, I was depressed and lost in the futile job-hunt using Want<br />
