others who have already done what you are thinking of doing; then<br />

you evaluate whether or not you still want to go ahead and try it.<br />

3. Have a plan B, laid out, before you start, as to what you will do if it<br />

doesn’t work out; i.e., know where you are going to go, next. Don’t<br />

wait, puh-leaze! Write it out, now: This is what I’m going to do, if<br />

this doesn’t work out.<br />

A Case History 4<br />

A man decided to set up his own business. He knew he would have<br />

three problems: how to find help; how to find clients or customers;<br />

and how to build up the business.<br />

He knew he could operate on a shoestring, if he went global, so<br />

using his computer, he searched for whatever kind of help he needed:<br />

website design, printing, whatever. All he had to do was type in the<br />

name of the skill-set he needed, plus the word “overseas,” and the<br />

word “jobs”—and then choose from what he found.<br />

He began <strong>by</strong> using this kind of help to set up his own website. On<br />

his website, he decided that nobody was going to buy anything from<br />

him unless they first trusted him. Trust began <strong>by</strong> not asking anything<br />

of them. So, he divided his potential clients or customers into three<br />

categories (in his mind): new, repeaters, and steady return visitors.<br />

He decided to give content away for free to first-time visitors. He<br />

reserved more valuable content for those who returned to his
