Majestats-Brief, one object of which was to<br />

empower the Protestants <strong>in</strong> <strong>Bohemia</strong> to open<br />

churches <strong>and</strong> schools wherever they pleased. This<br />

"Royal Charter," moreover, made over to them [20]<br />

the University of Prague, <strong>and</strong> permitted them to<br />

appo<strong>in</strong>t a public adm<strong>in</strong>istrator of their affairs. It<br />

was <strong>in</strong> virtue of this last very important concession<br />

that the Protestant Church of <strong>Bohemia</strong> now<br />

atta<strong>in</strong>ed more nearly than ever, before or s<strong>in</strong>ce, to a<br />

perfect union <strong>and</strong> a settled government.<br />
