as the heroism of the scaffold is a spectacle more
sublime, and one that will better repay an attentive
study, than the heroism of the battlefield, we shall
permit these martyr-patriots to pass before us one
by one. The clamor that drowned their dying words
has long since been hushed; and the voices of the
scaffold of Prague, rising clear and loud above the
momentary noise, have traveled down the years to
us.
