THE EVENT
The Italian/International Tall Buildings
conference, now in its 11 th edition, was held
in Milan in the Salone d’Onore of the Palazzo
dell'Arte, home of the Triennale, on Wednesday,
June 22, 2022 from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm. The
event had 52 sponsoring companies, 30 speakers
and 240 other participants.
Launched at the Iuav University of Venice,
where the research center of Ctbuh (Council
on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat) directed
by Dario Trabucco is based, it moved to Milan
in 2016 when Iuav was joined as a sponsoring
academic entity by Polimi and later Triennale
Milano.

L’EVENTO
Il convegno italiano/internazionale Tall
Buildings, giunto all’11 a edizione, si è svolto
a Milano nel Salone d’Onore del Palazzo
dell’Arte, sede della Triennale, mercoledì 22
giugno 2022 dalle 9:30 alle 18:30. L’evento ha
avuto 52 società sponsor, 30 relatori e 240 altri
partecipanti.
Lanciato all’Università Iuav di Venezia, dove
ha sede il centro di ricerca del Ctbuh (Council
on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat) diretto
da Dario Trabucco, si è trasferito a Milano
nel 2016 quando alla Iuav si sono aggiunti il
Polimi (come entità accademica patrocinante) e
successivamente Triennale Milano.

Conceived and animated by Aldo Norsa (formerly
of Iuav and Polimi), scientific director of the
research company Guamari, the conference
allowed for a comparison of innovations in the
design and construction of tall buildings in Italy
(residential and tertiary) as well as examples
of urban regeneration associated with the most
significant achievements abroad.
The 11 th conference, following a proven pattern,
devoted the morning session to developments in
Milan (the only Italian city in which new highrise
buildings are currently being designed and
built) and the afternoon session to updating
expertise in Italy and around the world, both
by illustrating innovative and challenging
realizations and research abroad and by
theoretical interventions on issues such as
management, safety, sustainability, recycling, as
well as examples of innovative and ecological
technologies for example in the use of steel and
wood structures, glass envelopes to end with the
resistance of tall buildings (with increasingly

di confrontare le novità nella progettazione e
realizzazione di edifici alti in Italia (residenziali
e terziari) nonché gli esempi di rigenerazione
urbana che a queste si associano con le più
significative realizzazioni all’estero.
L’11° convegno, secondo uno schema collaudato,
ha dedicato la sessione mattutina agli sviluppi
di Milano (unica città italiana in cui al momento
si progettano e costruiscono nuovi grattacieli) e
la pomeridiana all’aggiornamento dell’expertise
in Italia e nel mondo, sia con l’illustrazione di
realizzazioni e ricerche innovative e sfidanti
all’estero sia con interventi teorici su tematiche
quali la gestione, la sicurezza, la sostenibilità, il
riciclo, nonché esempi di tecnologie innovative
ed ecologiche per esempio nell’uso delle
strutture in acciaio e in legno, degli involucri in
vetro per terminare con la resistenza degli edifici
alti (con configurazioni sempre più inusuali) agli
