and the use of suspension devices such as belts
is addressed.
The 8100 Standard acknowledges that in
addition to the requirements of said document,
supplementary requirements need to be
considered in special cases, such as:
• the use of lifts by disabled persons, or
• in cases of fire or potentially explosive
atmospheres, or
• extreme weather conditions.
The document does not concern:
• lifts with drive systems other than those
mentioned with rated speed less than 0.15 m/s
• hydraulic lifts with rated speed greater than
1.0 m/s or pressure >50 Mp,
• lifts in existing buildings (citing as a
reference the EN 81-21:2022 Standard).
However, the document could be
considered as a useful reference for the case in
question.
REFERENCE PROVISIONS
As usual, a chapter of the Standard will be
dedicated to the reference provisions relating
to the topics dealt with in the 8100 standard,
provisions that, owing to their quantity, will not
be cited here, leaving it up to the reader to follow
up if they so wish.
We will simply say that there are currently 50
cited provisions, a number that attests to the need
to have a standard that can be used methodically
and easily all around the world.
DEFINITIONS
There is also a need for a glossary that allows
for an unequivocal interpretation of all the
terms set out in the Standard, regardless of the
characteristics of each language adopted by the
user.
This need is easily and quickly demonstrated by
the indication of the validity of the definitions
relating to the ISO (International Organization
for Standardization) and IEC (International
Electrotechnical Commission) standards and
the consideration that by now there are almost
one hundred definitions contained in the relative
chapter.
For example, there is a definition regarding
the means of suspension, which at the moment
includes not only ropes and chains, but also
belts.
LIST OF SIGNIFICANT HAZARDS
This chapter sets out, as is usually the case
in the harmonized standards, a list of hazards
deemed to be significant in the document under
consideration that result from a risk assessment
and require action to be taken to reduce or
eliminate the risks identified.
These significant hazards include

La 8100 avverte che, oltre ai requisiti da
essa stessa richiesti, se ne aggiungono altri
(quindi ulteriori) dovuti alle necessità legate a
situazioni speciali e specifiche come:
• l’uso da parte di persone con disabilità, oppure
• il caso di incendio o di atmosfera esplosiva
potenziale, oppure
• condizioni climatiche estreme.
Il documento non riguarda gli ascensori:
• con azionamenti diversi da quelli citati con
velocità non maggiore di 0,15 m/s,
• oleodinamici con velocità maggiore di 1,0
m/s o pressione >50 Mp,
• in edifici esistenti (citando come riferimento
la Norma EN 81-21:2022).
Il documento, tuttavia, potrebbe essere preso in
considerazione come un utile riferimento per il
caso in questione.
NORMATIVE A RIFERIMENTO
Come d’uso, un capitolo della Norma sarà
dedicato alle normative di riferimento relative
agli argomenti citati dalla 8100, normative che,
per la loro quantità, non citeremo, lasciando al
lettore il compito di informarsi.
Ci limitiamo a dire che essi (i riferimenti citati),
al momento, sono circa 50 e tale numero è
testimone della necessità di avere una norma
impiegabile con logica e facilità in tutto il nostro
pianeta.
DEFINIZIONI
Si tratta di un altro argomento che riflette la
necessità di disporre di un glossario che consenta
di dare un’interpretazione univoca a tutti i termini
esposti nella Norma, indipendentemente dalle
caratteristiche di ogni lingua impiegata dall’utente.
Di questa necessità è semplice e immediata
dimostrazione l’indicazione della validità
delle definizioni relative alle norme ISO
(Organizzazione internazionale per la normazione)
e IEC (Commissione elettrotecnica internazionale)
e la considerazione che ormai le definizioni
contenute nel capitolo relativo stanno tendendo
verso il centinaio.
Diamo soltanto la segnalazione che esiste una
definizione relativa ai mezzi di sospensione, che
al momento include non soltanto funi e catene, ma
anche cinghie.
ELENCO DEI PERICOLI SIGNIFICATIVI
Il punto riporta, come al solito nelle norme
armonizzate, l’elenco dei pericoli considerati
significativi nel documento che stiamo
esaminando e che nascono da una valutazione dei
rischi e richiedono interventi per la riduzione o
l’eliminazione dei rischi esaminati.
