The future 8100-1 Standard

FOREWORD
We are delighted to resume this series of articles
dealing with the new ISO 8100 Standard which
represents an innovation at both the European
and international levels, as has already been
underlined previously.
Our analysis will take into account the
information gathered in each edition of
Elevatori Magazine regarding the amendments
to the standards under development which, as is
always the case when drafting new standards,
are the natural result of technological
developments and assessments of the safety of
the ‘lift’ product.
FIELD OF APPLICATION
We will look in detail at the field of application
of the Standard because said concept, in our
opinion, if properly assessed, clearly expresses
the goals that were established by the Standard
with the applications that were made possible
by the same.
This perspective, therefore, allows the framing
of the explicit goals of the Standard itself. It is
impossible to cover all of it here so we will seek
to provide a sufficiently satisfactory overview of
the content.
The Standard lists all the safety rules for
permanently installed new passenger or goods
lifts with a traction, positive or hydraulic drive
system.
They are understood as installations that serve
defined landing levels, having a car designed
for the transportation of persons or persons
and goods, suspended by ropes, belts, chains or
jacks and moving between guide rails inclined
not more than 15° to the vertical.

PREMESSA
Riprendiamo con piacere questa serie di articoli
che si interessano delle nuove Norme ISO 8100,
che rappresenteranno una novità a livello non
solo europeo ma anche mondiale, come già da noi
sottolineato in precedenza.
La nostra trattazione dovrà tenere conto, e
certamente lo farà, delle informazioni raccolte
in ogni numero di Elevatori Magazine in merito
alle modifiche delle norme in corso d’opera che,
come in tutte le preparazioni di nuove norme, si
verificano per un fatto naturale che tiene conto sia
delle evoluzioni tecnologiche sia delle valutazioni
di sicurezza relative al prodotto ‘ascensore’.
CAMPO DI APPLICAZIONE
Ci soffermeremo in dettaglio sul campo di
applicazione della Norma perché, a nostro
parere, tale concetto, se opportunamente
valutato, esprime con chiarezza gli obiettivi che
la Norma si è prefissata con le applicazioni da
essa consentite e quindi rese possibili.
Si tratta quindi di una finestra che consente di
inquadrare gli obiettivi espliciti della Norma
stessa. Non potremo riprodurla tutta, ma
cercheremo di riassumerne il contenuto in
maniera sufficientemente soddisfacente.
La Norma elencherà le regole di sicurezza per gli
ascensori per persone o merci installati in modo
permanente e aventi azionamento a frizione, a
tamburo oppure di tipo oleodinamico.
Sono intesi impianti che servono piani definiti
mediante una cabina progettata per il trasporto
di persone o di persone e cose sospesa mediante
funi, cinghie, catene o pistoni e in movimento
tra guide aventi inclinazione non maggiore del
15° rispetto all’asse verticale.
