a valid CE marking certificate issued by a
EU27-approved notified body, and many notified/
approved bodies are putting gears in motion to
offer both CE and UKCA markings to clients.
For business continuity in Europe,
many UK-based approved bodies are likely
to re-register where possible through parent
companies in the EU to become subsidiaries
of notified bodies.
As of the end of September 2021, there are
five approved bodies on the UK government’s
UK Market Conformity Assessment Bodies
(UKMCAB) database for lifts and two approved
bodies for safety components.[2] Existing
Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs)
based in the UK have been granted the
immediate UK-approved body status.
Several other EU or global CABs are at
advanced stages in the accreditation
process by UKAS (United Kingdom
Accreditation Service) as UKMCABs.
Still, at the time of writing,
none have yet been approved.
Just as EU lifts and safety components need to be
signed with the CE marking and the registration
number of the notified body, the same principle
applies to the UKCA markings and their
registered approved bodies.
Notified Bodies established in Northern Ireland
may certify products based on EU legislation
made applicable by the Protocol, but the
certificates they issue are valid only in Northern
Ireland. By contrast, these certificates are not
valid in the EU.
More detailed guidance and advice for
manufacturers and distributors will soon
be made available from the European Lift
Association in the form of an Information Note
distributed to all members. •
ente notificato approvato dall’UE27 e numerosi enti
esistenti, i Conformity Assessment Bodies (CAB)
Kingdom Accreditation Service) come UKMCAB.
ottenuto l’approvazione necessaria.
certificati emessi saranno validi solo in Irlanda
europea.
Indicazioni e consigli più dettagliati per i
produttori saranno presto resi disponibili
membri. •
