Pharmacy Technician 5850<br />

2 years/4 semesters Fall, Winter Ontario College Diploma Morningside<br />
As the health care landscape continues to evolve, pharmacy technicians are in high demand.<br />
This program, which offers a dynamic curriculum based on the National Association of Pharmacy<br />
Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) competencies, helps you to gain the scope of required skills. In<br />
a learner-centred environment, become adept in receiving, ordering, and managing inventory;<br />
preparing, dispensing, and compounding medications; interacting with patients and health care<br />
providers; and assisting in the provision of pharmaceutical care and pharmacy services. Benefit from<br />
classroom and hands-on practice in onsite labs that include community dispensing, institution/longterm<br />
care, and sterile preparations. Three work experience placements round out the program — and<br />
fully prepare you to go further faster.<br />
Notes:<br />
1. To practice as a pharmacy technician in Ontario, you will be required to complete the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada<br />
exam and to register with the Ontario College of Pharmacists according to its licensing requirements.<br />
2. As per Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP) requirements, students must complete the<br />
Pharmacy Technician program within 4 years of admission (criterion 3.4 graduates complete the program within 4 years of<br />
admission).<br />
Program Accreditation<br />
The Centennial College, Pharmacy Technician program is a fully accredited program with the<br />
Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs.<br />

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS<br />
• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD),<br />
or equivalent, or mature student status<br />
(19 years or older)<br />
• Grade 12 English (C or U), or equivalent<br />
(minimum grade required)<br />
• Grade 11 Mathematics (M or U) or Grade 12<br />
Mathematics (C or U), or equivalent<br />
(minimum grade required), or take the<br />
College GAS Math Skills Assessment for<br />
Admission<br />
• Grade 11 Biology (C or U) or Grade 12<br />
Biology (C or U), or equivalent (minimum<br />
grade required)<br />
• Grade 11 Chemistry (C or U) or Grade 12<br />
Chemistry (C or U), or equivalent (minimum<br />
grade required)<br />
• English language proficiency. You must<br />
demonstrate language proficiency by<br />
meeting one of the following requirements:<br />
» Language proficiency test results that<br />
meet the NAPRA Language Proficiency<br />
Requirements for Licensure as a<br />
Pharmacy Technician in Canada; or<br />
» Graduation from a high school in Canada<br />
with three consecutive, first language<br />
English courses/credits; or<br />
» An undergraduate degree from a college<br />
or university in Canada, whose<br />
instruction was provided in English<br />

1. Science and English assessments will not be accepted<br />
in place of the science and English requirement.<br />
