Due to an increasing number of seniors and new technologies, Canada’s health occupations are
growing. Be at the centre of it all as a medical laboratory technician or assistant. Our curriculum —
based on the national (CSMLS) and provincial standards (MLPAO) of practice for entry-level medical
laboratory assistants and technicians — is delivered in a compressed format that gets you into the
workforce faster. The program emphasizes proficiency in collecting blood samples and performing
ECGs as well as safely and ethically assisting medical technologists with tasks such as urinalysis and
microbiology streaking. During your final semester, participate in a clinical internship field placement
that rounds out your training and prepares you to become a leader.
Note: As a graduate, you will qualify to write the CSMLS and the MLPAO certification exams for Medical Laboratory Assistant/
Technician.
