Truck and coach is one of the North American economy’s largest industries. Through this program<br />

prepare for the field and, when you graduate, get accredited for levels 1 and 2 of in-school<br />

apprenticeship training. Courses in the program — which is based on the Truck and Coach Technician<br />

310T apprenticeship curriculum standards — emphasize applied mechanics and vehicle dynamics<br />

and component design and repair. Combining theory and practice in modern facilities with<br />

industry-relevant training aids, study traditional topics as well as HVAC (refrigeration), preventative<br />

maintenance, and fixed operations management. English and general education courses are<br />

included to help you successfully advance your career by being a well-rounded graduate.<br />

1. Once you successfully complete this program, you will receive a Motive Power Technician Ontario College Diploma, and you will<br />

be accredited with level 1 and 2 of Truck and Coach Technician 310T apprenticeship in-school training.<br />

MODIFIED APPRENTICE TRAINING – 32<br />

When commercial trucks, buses, emergency vehicles, and other such vehicles need repair,<br />

automotive service techs with systems and components knowledge get the job done. At Centennial,<br />

spend 32 weeks completing all three levels of the Truck and Coach Technician 310T in-school<br />

apprenticeship training (during which you may be eligible for employment insurance) and attend<br />

two two-week work placements. Learn about vehicles and system components (practicing on drive<br />

trains, and electrical, engine, brake, fuel, and fluid power systems), trade practices and electronic<br />

management, and emissions. Then, start your apprenticeship’s on-the-job portion with a fleet,<br />

transit, dealership, or other employer — becoming eligible to write the provincial certificate of<br />

qualification exam. When your training ends, prepare to lead in your sector.<br />
