Truck and Coach Technician – Volvo/Mack 8681<br />

MODIFIED APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM – 32<br />

Today’s heavy truck technology requires professionals who are specially trained to work on MACK/<br />

VOLVO engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, gear trains, and brakes steering and suspension<br />

systems. This program prepares you for career and life success as you spend 32 weeks completing<br />

all three levels of the Truck and Coach 310T in-school apprenticeship training and two two-week work<br />

placements. During in-school sessions, you may be eligible for employment insurance. Training at<br />

Centennial involves practical application in fully-equipped facilities, and it focuses on electronics,<br />

diagnosis, computer management systems, and workplace practices. Upon successful completion,<br />

with a 75 per cent grade average, conduct a job interview at a hiring MACK/VOLVO dealership or fleet<br />

operation to obtain on-the-job apprenticeship training.<br />

Truck and Coach Pre-Apprenticeship 8515<br />

LENGTH INTAKE CREDENTIAL LOCATION<br />

33 weeks Winter Ontario College Certificate Ashtonbee<br />

An apprenticeship is key to launching a successful truck and coach technician career. Use this<br />

tuition-free, Government of Ontario-funded program as a transition step. Within 33 weeks, complete<br />

Level 1 of the Truck and Coach Technician 310T in-school apprenticeship curriculum requirements<br />

and a paid work placement — getting experience in Canada’s workforce. Truck and Coach Pre-<br />

Apprenticeship consists of three phases. Start with Introductory Skills (preparation for truck and<br />

coach training, job readiness skills, workplace communications, technical writing, and mathematical<br />

skills for the transportation field) before moving onto Technical Skills (Level 1 training in engines,<br />

fuels, electrical, suspension, steering, powertrain, and brakes). Finally, during Work Placement, apply<br />

your training in an industry setting and graduate knowing you are ready to succeed.<br />
