With society’s changing views of energy and the environment transforming the utility and construction<br />

sectors, a recent report shows Canada’s renewable energy sector is growing. In this program, learn<br />

to understand energy and its uses in modern society. Through courses — which include handson<br />

practice that mimics real-world scenarios — become adept at integrating and using modern<br />

sustainable energy technologies in a manner consistent with our urban environments. You graduate<br />

with a unique blend of technical, managerial, leadership, and entrepreneurial skills that today’s<br />

energy and sustainable building companies are seeking.<br />

Note: This program is taught using a combination of modalities. Courses may be delivered face-to-face, online, or in a blended/<br />

hybrid combination of both online and traditional classroom teaching. Some courses may be offered at more than one location.<br />

Program Accreditation and Recognition<br />

• This program has met the national educational standards of Canada’s engineering technology and applied<br />

science profession, and as such, has received national program accreditation from Technology Accreditation<br />

Canada (TAC).<br />

• The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) recognizes this TAC<br />

nationally-accredited program as meeting the academic standard for certification in the Certified Technician<br />

(C.Tech.) category as well as the OACETT language benchmark requirement.<br />

Combine your interest in biology, chemistry, math, and the environment through a career in the<br />

growing environmental technology field. Our program’s curriculum covers the three foundational<br />

disciplines of biology, chemistry, and civil engineering. This knowledge serves as a foundation to<br />

teach you to understand and manage complex environmental problems. With hands-on training,<br />

also learn to use the tools and equipment needed in water and soil quality analysis, ecological field<br />

sampling, analytical chemistry, and surveying. The program’s well-rounded approach prepares you to<br />

be holistically ready — greatly increasing your career options.<br />

Notes:<br />

1. When you graduate, you will be able to write the Ontario Ministry of the Environment Operator in Training (OIT) and Water<br />

Quality Analyst (WQA) exams. You will also be able to apply to register with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering<br />

Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).<br />

2. If you successfully complete the entry-level course for drinking water operators, you will meet the requirements of the Ministry<br />

of the Environment, Conservation and Parks’ entry-level course for drinking water operators.<br />
