Firefighter – Pre-Service Education and Training 1260
LENGTH INTAKE CREDENTIAL LOCATION
1 year/3 semesters Fall Ontario College Certificate Progress
It is expected that this program — designed in accordance with the Ontario Association of Fire
Chiefs and the Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal’s approved curriculum — will increasingly become
a minimum criterion for fire service hiring in Ontario. To become an eligible operational firefighter
candidate, you develop fire suppression, rescue operations, and environmental protection skills
through our combination of theory and practical learning. Acquire hands-on experience at Ajax Fire
Services’ training facilities and Morningside Campus’s medical lab. Graduate with the eligibility to
write the National Fire Protection Association 1001 Firefighter 1 and 2 as well as the 472 Hazardous
Materials Awareness and Operations testing. Your training prepares you to be confident as a leader.
Note: The official Ministry name for this program is Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training.
“I would recommend Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training
at Centennial College to people who are looking for a career in
firefighting. The instructors are experienced, dedicated, and
knowledgeable. They also go out of their way to help us, even after
we have graduated. And, to top it off, you also have the unique
opportunity to train at the Toronto Fire Academy!”
