MODIFIED APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM – 32<br />

An automotive service technician with a specialization in Honda/Acura must know the company’s<br />

latest technology, electronics, and mechanical systems. If you are a new or existing Acura or Honda<br />

dealer apprentice, this program covers the traditional apprenticeship section, with specific training<br />

on Acura and Honda components. You also receive additional technical training on many factory<br />

e-Learning modules and hybrid and alternate fuel systems, while benefitting from a curriculum<br />

additions that encourage leadership capabilities. The program runs in eight four-week blocks, for 32<br />

weeks. Your time alternates between Centennial and your dealer for paid apprenticeship work terms<br />

(64 weeks total). During in-school training, you may be eligible for employment insurance.<br />

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS<br />

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD),<br />

or General Educational Development (GED),<br />

or equivalent.<br />

• Applicants must be employed by an Acura or<br />

Honda Canada Inc. dealership. Applicants<br />

must secure employment with a Honda<br />

Canada Inc. dealership and then register as<br />

MAP apprentices with the Ministry of Labour,<br />

Training and Skills Development.<br />

Automotive Service Technician Pre-Apprenticeship 8527<br />

LENGTH INTAKE CREDENTIAL LOCATION<br />

33 Weeks Winter Ontario College Certificate Ashtonbee<br />

Use this tuition-free, Government of Ontario-funded program as a transition step to finding an<br />

apprenticeship. Within 33 weeks, complete the requirements for Level 1 of the in-school 310S<br />

apprenticeship curriculum and paid work placement, while getting Canadian on-the-job experience.<br />

Delivered in three phases, the program’s first 12 weeks cover introductory skills such as job<br />

readiness, workplace communications, technical writing, and math. Phase 2 introduces Automotive<br />

Service Technician Level 1 topics (engines, fuels, electrical, suspension, steering, powertrain,<br />

brakes). You end the program with an industry placement, and the confidence to get ahead.<br />
