Automotive – Motive Power Technician 8202<br />

LENGTH INTAKE CREDENTIAL LOCATION<br />

2 years/4 semesters Fall Ontario College Diploma Ashtonbee<br />

OPTIONAL CO-OP<br />

Organizations as widely varied as automotive makers and dealers, retail companies, and insurance<br />

corporations need professionals with Automotive – Motive Power Technician training. The traderelevant<br />

skills and knowledge you gain in this program highlight motor vehicle technology, while<br />

practical application of technology in our lab facilities helps you to effectively diagnose and repair<br />

vehicles. Before graduation, you have the option to experience the real world as a paid employee<br />

through a one-term summer co-op. When you graduate, in addition to your diploma, you are<br />

accredited with levels 1 and 2 of Automotive Service Technician 310S apprenticeship in-school<br />

training. You also earn an Ozone Depletion Prevention certificate. Your well-rounded education sets<br />

you up for long-term success.<br />

1. The official Ministry name for this program is Motive Power Technician.<br />

2. Once you successfully complete this program, you will receive a Motive Power Technician Ontario College Diploma, and you will<br />

be accredited with Level 1 and level 2 of Automotive Service Technician 310S apprenticeship in-school training.<br />

LENGTH INTAKE CREDENTIAL LOCATION<br />

2 years/4 semesters Fall Ontario College Diploma Ashtonbee<br />

OPTIONAL CO-OP<br />

To prepare you for a leadership role in operational management support, this program focuses on<br />

parts service, warranty administration, customer relations, and business operations. It is the first<br />

post-secondary program in Canada to do so, giving you an automotive education and skill set that<br />

positions you as a top candidate — whether or not you have previous experience. Round out your<br />

education with automotive warranty and leasing, merchandising and inventory, and automotive<br />

service process knowledge; technological and technical skills; marketing and macroeconomics<br />

principles, and customer service and sales techniques. Before graduation, you have the option to<br />

experience the real world as a paid employee through a one-term summer co-op.<br />
