Kariamu Welsh is the artistic director of Kariamu & Co.: Traditions. Kariamu is the recipient of<br />

numerous fellowships, grants and awards <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g a <strong>National</strong> Endowment for the Arts Choreography<br />

Fellowship, the Creative Public Service Award of NY, a Pew Choreography Fellowship, a Simon<br />

Guggenheim Fellowship, a Pennsylvania Council on the Arts grant, a Fulbright Specialist award and a<br />

Senior Fulbright Scholar Award. She is the found<strong>in</strong>g artistic director of the <strong>National</strong> Dance Company<br />

of Zimbabwe <strong>in</strong> southern Africa. Kariamu is the creator of the Umfundalai dance technique, a<br />

contemporary technique that has been <strong>in</strong> existence for forty years. Kariamu has received many honors<br />

and awards <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g the Pioneer Award from The International Association of Blacks <strong>in</strong> Dance <strong>in</strong><br />

January of 2010.<br />

David R White is the executive and artistic director of The Yard <strong>in</strong> Chilmark, MA (Martha's V<strong>in</strong>eyard),<br />

an artist/company residency and presentation center dedicated to contemporary dance and related art<br />

forms. Until 2011, he was the Director of ARTVENTURES New England, a statewide program<br />

focus<strong>in</strong>g on rural community cultural development and arts accessibility. He chairs the <strong>National</strong><br />

[Artist] Council of Florida's Atlantic Center for the Arts. From 1975-2003, White served as the<br />

executive director and producer of Dance Theater Workshop (now New York Live Arts) <strong>in</strong> NYC,<br />

where he nurtured countless contemporary artists and founded, funded and directed such longstand<strong>in</strong>g<br />

community-wide programs as the <strong>National</strong> <strong>Performance</strong> Network, the Suitcase Fund, and the NY State<br />

Dance Force.<br />

Kim Whitener is the Produc<strong>in</strong>g Director at HERE, work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> partnership with Artistic Director Krist<strong>in</strong><br />

Mart<strong>in</strong>g to curate and produce HERE's performance programs and activities. HERE supports the work<br />

of mid-career artists work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> hybrid forms through commissions, workshops, and full productions as<br />

part of the HERE Artist Residency Program (HARP). Ms. Whitener has also been an <strong>in</strong>dependent
