with VAN and NPN involves travel throughout the U.S., visiting partner sites and attending national
and regional meetings and conferences. He holds an MFA in painting from the Maryland Institute
College of Art, Baltimore, MD; and a BFA in painting and drawing from Louisiana State University,
Baton Rouge, LA. His artwork has been exhibited in New Orleans, Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore
and Florida. He is also the co-founder of the influential, yet largely unknown, psychedelic rock band,
the Heatbunnies.

KENT DE SPAIN is a choreographer/director/multimedia artist who has taught and toured throughout
the United States, and in Latin America, Europe, and Asia, including performances at Jacob's Pillow
and Judson Church. He has been the recipient of several major awards, including the Pew Fellowship
in the Arts for Choreography and an Established Choreographers Fellowship from the Pennsylvania
Council on the Arts. De Spain is widely known for his performances, documentation, and teaching of
movement and theatre improvisation, and has also written and performed extensively exploring the
interface between movement and technology.
