Kathryn Sclavi is a socially-engaged artist who collaborates with communities <strong>in</strong> creat<strong>in</strong>g unique<br />

gather<strong>in</strong>g spaces designed to enhance learn<strong>in</strong>g, encourage communication, and <strong>in</strong>spire change. Her<br />

projects are created <strong>in</strong> conjunction with art collectives, schools, museums, non-profit organizations,<br />

and alternative spaces. These gather<strong>in</strong>g spaces take the form of participatory projects such as colorful<br />

tents, collaborative creations, art parades, z<strong>in</strong>es, and more us<strong>in</strong>g media <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g fiber, found objects,<br />

and costume-mak<strong>in</strong>g. Sclavi has worked <strong>in</strong> collaboration with the <strong>Philadelphia</strong> Mural Arts Program,<br />

Fleisher Arts Memorial, the Pa<strong>in</strong>ted Bride, and currently, is an artist-<strong>in</strong>-residence <strong>in</strong> Asian Arts<br />

Initiative's Social Practice Lab <strong>in</strong> a year-long project about creative community engagement.<br />

Janella Sellars currently serves as the Interim Executive Director for the St. Joseph's Historic<br />

Foundation, Inc. - Hayti Heritage Center located <strong>in</strong> Durham, NC. She holds a Master of Bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />

Adm<strong>in</strong>istration and a Bachelor of Arts degree <strong>in</strong> Art from NC Central University (Durham, NC). She<br />

has worked with the Foundation for over a decade.<br />
