NPN's 2012 Annual Meeting in Philadelphia Attendees / Page 108 of 115 Kariamu Welsh is the artistic director of Kariamu & Co.: Traditions. Kariamu is the recipient of numerous fellowships, grants and awards including a National Endowment for the Arts Choreography Fellowship, the Creative Public Service Award of NY, a Pew Choreography Fellowship, a Simon Guggenheim Fellowship, a Pennsylvania Council on the Arts grant, a Fulbright Specialist award and a Senior Fulbright Scholar Award. She is the founding artistic director of the National Dance Company of Zimbabwe in southern Africa. Kariamu is the creator of the Umfundalai dance technique, a contemporary technique that has been in existence for forty years. Kariamu has received many honors and awards including the Pioneer Award from The International Association of Blacks in Dance in January of 2010. DAVID R. Until 2011, he was the Director of ARTVENTURES New England, a statewide program focusing on rural community cultural development and arts accessibility. He chairs the National [Artist] Council of Florida's Atlantic Center for the Arts. From 1975-2003, White served as the executive director and producer of Dance Theater Workshop (now New York Live Arts) in NYC, where he nurtured countless contemporary artists and founded, funded and directed such longstanding community-wide programs as the National Performance Network, the Suitcase Fund, and the NY State Dance Force. Wilkins is executive director of Real Art Ways, one of the country's leading contemporary multidisciplinary organizations. Mr. Wilkins has overseen the $1.8 million development of the Real Art Ways arts center, a place for art, ideas and social interaction. Among the highlights of Mr. Wilkins' tenure has been a series of commissioned artists' projects, many in public settings and involving community participation. Under Mr. Wilkins' direction, Real Art Ways has been a strong supporter of artists' rights and freedom of expression. It has received support from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, the Ford Foundation, the Wallace Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
