KEMP was recently named Chair of the Master in Fine Arts in Visual Studies Program at Pacific Northwest College of Art. He has received awards from Printed Matter, Art Matters, the Joan Mitchell Foundation, Pollock-Krasner Foundation, and Artadia Fund for Art, and the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation. His works are in the collections of the Berkeley Art Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Tacoma Art Museum, The Fine Arts Collection, UC Davis and the Studio Museum in Harlem. She holds a BA in psychology and a MA in art history. Kerry is a writer/playwright and has worked with both artists/the public to create projects that affect the community. Ms. Kennedy's primary goal is to provide audiences with access to the arts/arts education, through public art, performance and workshops. Kerry Kennedy has a great deal of experience with cultural institutions. She has worked with museums, botanical gardens, historic homes, public art programs, performing arts organizations and provides community development facilitation. She is a Curatorial Advisor for the Artist Pension Trust and exhibits and lectures about her work internationally. SKIM weaves together stories of life, movement and love with her fiery rap lyrics mixed with her sultry singing. She has emerged as one of the most refreshing new artists from the Los Angeles soundscape as she flows through elements of hip hop, spoken word and Korean folk music. Her reach is continually expanding as her soulful sounds echo across the nation - whether at the Michigan Women's Music or San Francisco's Pride Festivals, at college campuses or juvenile halls, on HBO's Def Poetry or on Pacifica Radio, harmonizing with the Chicago Children's Choir or opening for KRS-One. Her album For Every Tear debuted in 2006, and features iconic underground anthems "Unfamiliar" and "Long Story." She performs her own work as well as working with other artists, mostly in the collaborative setting. Her works have been featured in the National Asian American Theater Festival (NYC and LA), Culture Projectâ€s Women Center Stage Festival, HERE Arts Center and the Asian Arts Initiative.
