NPN's 2012 Annual Meeting in Philadelphia Attendees / Page 70 of 115 In 2011, Maggie Mills was awarded a career development program fellowship at The Center for Emerging Visual Artists. For twelve years, she has worked to bring a voice to artists in under-served populations through education, exhibition, and building partnerships with innovative artists and institutions. Mill's work is grounded in the depiction of contemporary ruin: the decomposition of nature and industry and the fragmentation of time and space due to technology. She creates scenarios in which future generations navigate these inherited spaces with little guidance. She is currently working on a series of paintings documenting children's interactions with surrounding fragile ecosystems as part of a residency at the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education. She danced for Tucson modern dance companies FUNHOUSE movement theater, New ARTiculations Dance Theatre and Zeffirelli 8. She also worked as a commissioned artist for "Undocumented Historias in the Desert of Dreams" co-produced by the Royal Society of the Arts, UK and the Fundación México. She is currently working with Denise Uyehara on her project "Bus Stop Dreaming." Yvonne continues to study modern dance technique with Norman Walker. Her company, Artistic Logistics, is a consultants' cooperative that offers a working relationship that's personal, participatory, egalitarian, artist-centered, and fun. She is based in Sautee-Nacoochee, Georgia, one of the "100 Best Small Art Towns" in the U.S., where she produces and directs the annual community story performance "Headwaters." She served as the board chair of Alternate ROOTS from 2002-2004 and in 2008, she was named one of the 100 most influential Georgians by Georgia Trend Magazine. Lisa is a banjo player. She creates jazz-infused, politicized texts about Haitian-American identity and the intersection of race, class, gender, sexuality and magic. In addition to featured solo performances in venues as diverse as the Louisiana Superdome and the United Nations, Lenelle regularly performs her acclaimed autobiographical one-woman show "Womb-Words, Thirsting" at theatres and colleges across the USA.
