The Fukoka City Foundation for the Arts, established in 1999, is funded by the city government. Its
mission is "to bridge people and the arts." The Foundation does not own its own space and supports
traditional and contemporary arts that take place throughout the city. In addition to community
workshops, Artist in Schools program, they host the Asia Film Festival and the Fukoka Arts Festival.
The Foundation is a strong presence in the city and serves the diverse needs of the community through
organic cooperation with other city institutions.

Kyoko Yoshida is the founder and executive director of U.S/Japan Cultural Trade Network, Inc.
(CTN), an international initiative of Arts Midwest to provide leadership, vision, information and
technical support to enhance cultural trade between the two countries. Since its inception, Yoshida has
successfully lead CTN in bringing together public and private resources in both countries to create a
dynamic system of support for the exchange of artists, artistic services, and exhibitions. After a
productive five-year operation in the Midwest, CTN relocated to San Francisco in 2006 and became an
independent nonprofit organization. Currently based in San Francisco, Yoshida also serves as senior
program advisor for San Francisco International Arts Festival
