As a member of the R&B/rock band Dirty Boots, and former member of indie rock band Creeper Lagoon, San Diego native Rachel Lastimosa has contributed to the Bay Area music scene for the past 10 years. She plays frequently at clubs and venues around the Bay Area and has toured the U.S. She's co-produced and arranged full length albums: Long Dry Cold (2006), Creeper Lagoon; No One Really Knows (2009), Conchita Campos and Where We Go (2011), Dirty Boots. My work is informed by artistic and cultural traditions of Africa, the African Diaspora, and global textiles, is inspired by cultural contributions of African Americans, addressing themes of identity, heritage, nature, ritual, and cultural symbolism. In 2011 I was the recipient of a Leeway Foundation Transformation Award. NPN's 2012 Annual Meeting in Philadelphia Attendees / Page 61 of 115 Rebekah Lanae Lengel is Miami Light Project's managing producer and has been with the organization since 2002. In 2006, Ms. Lengel was selected by the Arts & Business Council of Miami as the co-recipient of the inaugural Miami Emerging Leaders Award; in 2005 she was recognized as a Leading Woman in South Florida's Urban Community by Urban America Newspaper and was, in the same year, selected by the Association of Performing Arts Presenters as one of 18 individuals across the country to participate in the 2005 Emerging Leaders Institute. She is currently a participant in the Arts Presenters Leadership Development Institute. Ms. Lengel is also an accomplished journalist and playwright, whose work has been published in three languages. She was a recipient of the 2007 Jonathan Larson Award and her first musical, Surviving the Nian, co-written by Abe Rybeck, was produced by The Theater Offensive that same year. She toured nationally in the band Good Asian Drivers from 2008-2010 and currently fronts the band Melissa Li and The Barely Theirs. In addition, she's co-writing 99% Stone, a musical based on the events leading up to and resulting from the Stonewall Riots, with playwright Letta Neely.
