Her latest work "Speed Killed My Cousin," recently premiered at the Knoxville TN/Harlan KY Micro-Fest, a project of the Network of Ensemble Theaters (NET). She is an adviser to the International Women Playwrights Conference and a board member of NET. She is currently participating in the Directing and Ensemble Creation Institute at Pangea World Theater in Minneapolis, sponsored by Pangea World Theater and Art 2 Action and national networks. She has enjoyed a successful career as teacher, choreographer, performer and director. In addition to her passion for the arts, Carla is an advocate of property ownership, community development and creative education. Dance Place was one of the ten original partners of the NPN. CARLA PETERSON New York Live Arts Artistic Director 219 West 19th Street, New York, NY 10011 phone (212) 691-6500 cpeterson@newyorklivearts.org Carla Peterson was appointed Artistic Director of New York Live Arts in February 2011, after providing overall direction for the artistic mission of Dance Theater Workshop (DTW), in the same position 2006-11. 2002-06, she held the position of Executive Director of Movement Research. 1993-96, she served at DTW as both Managing Director of the National Performance Network and Director of The Suitcase Fund, an international artist exchange program. 1988-93, she was Assistant Performing Arts Director at the Wexner Center for the Arts in Columbus, OH. She has held numerous positions in freelance arts consulting, fundraising and management working with artists Tere O'Connor, Jennifer Monson, Chamecki/Lerner, Ann Carlson and others, and for Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and Surdna Foundation. Peterson, director of the Philly Fringe Festival and Live Arts Brewery (LAB) program, joined the staff of the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival in 2010. Initiated in 2009, the LAB program seeks to support artists in the creative process through integrated, long-term residencies, elective programming and the facilitation of collaborative artistic exchange between audiences and artists of all disciplines. He is also director the annual Philly Fringe Festival, a three week city-wide festival featuring the work of more than 200 performing artists and companies.
