Sygoda jo<strong>in</strong>ed Pentacle <strong>in</strong> 1976 after a first career teach<strong>in</strong>g French literature. In the 35 years s<strong>in</strong>ce, he<br />

has served on myriad adjudication panels, written for arts publications, taught arts adm<strong>in</strong>isitration<br />

courses and sem<strong>in</strong>ars, and mentored numerous artists and managers. He devised and directed Pentacle's<br />

"Market<strong>in</strong>g From The Inside Out" sem<strong>in</strong>ars, which evolved <strong>in</strong>to Pentacle's Help Desk projects <strong>in</strong> New<br />

York and then Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago. He co-founded (with David White) the New<br />

York State DanceForce, <strong>in</strong> which he rema<strong>in</strong>s a participant. He is a longtime member of the Bessie (NY<br />

Dance & <strong>Performance</strong> Awards) Committee, and currently co-chairs its "small capacity" subcommittee.<br />

He has received various honors, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g Dance/USA's "Ernie" and Arts Presenters' Fan Taylor<br />

award.<br />

Kay Takeda has worked for over 15 years to provide artists and arts organizations with present<strong>in</strong>g,<br />

f<strong>in</strong>ancial and capacity-build<strong>in</strong>g support. She is currently the director of grants & services at Lower<br />

Manhattan Cultural Council where she develops and oversees its grantmak<strong>in</strong>g and career development<br />
