John Malpede, directs and performs. In 1985, Malpede founded and continues to direct the Los
Angeles Poverty Department (LAPD). Recent work includes LA Poverty Department's "Walk the
Talk" and "State of Incarceration," co-directed by Malpede and Henriette Brouwers and performed at
The Box Gallery, Highways Performance Space, and the Radar LA Festival; as a collaborating
performer in Wunderbaum's "Looking for Paul," at the REDCAT Theater and Stadsschouwburg's in
Rotterdam and Amsterdam; and "Bright Futures" directed by Malpede and performed by Nell Breyer,
Malpede, and Tanya Selvaratnam at MIT and NYC's Performa Festival.

Alison L Manning, The Yard's managing director & co-producer, has been working with the Martha's
Vineyard based arts organization for 5 years to bring performing arts to the local community, and
provide meaningful residency opportunities for artists each season. In her spare time she co-directs
(with partner Jesse Keller) and performs with YARDWorks, The Yard's year-round company of
educators and artists, and freelances with The Peggy Spina Tap Company, Xodus Dance Collective,
and Naomi Goldberg Haas' Dances for a Variable Population among others. Alison teaches Horton
Technique at STEPS on Broadway, Peridance Capezio Center, The Yard, and The Performing Arts
Center of Connecticut.
