She was a recipient of the Playwrights' Center's Many Voices Fellowship in FY 2011-2012, and was an artist in residence for the Red Eye Collaborative's Works in Progress series in 2010. Huang is a co-founder and core writer of The Unit Collective, a diverse community of under-represented theater professionals who nurture, develop, advocate and produce new work, and who produce Madness, a monthly evening of short plays. Huang's ten-minute play, "Mermaids" was a finalist for the KCACTF National Short Play Contest in 2009. She graduated with a degree in journalism from the University of Missouri in 2009. Her current projects involve multidisciplinary performance pieces that uncover hidden narratives related to local history and collective memory. She recently launched a professional learning communty of percussive dancers and dance improvisers who use history, collective memory, and social justice as content for their work. Her research, development, and performance work has been supported by the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage, the NEA, the Independence Foundation, the Haas Foundation, the Leeway Foundation, the Pa Council Humanities Council, and the Pa Council on the Arts. She was a 2010 Pew Fellow in the Arts.

His intensive collaborations from 1997 to 2005 in Berlin and Tokyo have been greatly influential and continue to provide a counterpoint to a San Francisco perspective. Today, Japanese traditional and martial arts inform the rigor that Shinichi applies to his teaching and creative process as he maintains the operation and artistic life of the San Francisco based performance company inkBoat, founded in 1998. Shinichi currently teaches dance at Mills College in Oakland, CA. He and his wife Dana run inkGround, a venue and studio for exploring dance in natural environments on the Lost Coast of California.
