He won the Jonathan Larson Award for the book to Melissa Li's "Surviving the Nian." He was declared one of the "Heeb 100" progressive Jewish world cultural leaders. With the support of the arts and local business communities, Concarino was able to open a new space in 2006. With the belief that the performing arts are powerful in developing life values and community cohesion, ConCarino, a 280-seat Theatre, provides space and opportunity for local people and artists to get together, encouraging links between different groups and generations. He is also the co-founder of Campo Santo (founded 1996) - multicultural theatre company that brings socially relevant plays to life in direct and accessible ways. All of the projects are world premieres, created in long-term processes.
