She moved to Cincinnati from NYC and is a past member and chair of Cincinnati Arts Allocation Committee and the Regional Cultural Planning Committee of OH, KY & IN. Ms. James has received the Ohio Governor's Award in Arts Administration, the OhioDance Award and the Scripps-Corbett Lifetime Achievement Award. She served on the board of OhioDance for six years and is celebrating the 40th Anniversary of CDT this year. During those 40 years, Ms. James has presented over 225 dance presentations and overseen numerous productions of new work. She has received choreography fellowships from the NEA and the Ohio Arts Council. She is currently chair of the Greater Cincinnati Dance Alliance, a networking and service org. for dance. She is currently exploring puppetry arts. Ms. Jolly's infectious stage presence and unique style demonstrates a hybrid of sensitive song styling with conservative bursts of courageous musical creativity. While in movement she found her entry point as an artist, she cannot be defined by one discipline or practice; her experiences have lead to a more nomadic existence. She is the founder of FlyGround - her creative home, co-founder of The Requisite Movers, and the development coordinator for, as a well as a member of, Mascher Space Co-op. Lela walks with her transitioned, as well as living, family; she is humbled and so thankful for all those who have nurtured her, especially her grandfather, mom, dad, and sister. She is an actress, teacher, singer, and writer. Ms. Jones is also the director of the award winning Medea Project: Theater for Incarcerated Women, which is a performance workshop that is designed to achieve personal and social transformation with incarcerated women. Rhodessa was most recently selected as an "Arts Envoy" by the U.S. Department of State to conduct an international six-week residency/workshop process inside the Naturena Women's Prison in Johannesburg, South Africa. In December of 2007 Ms. Jones received a United States Artist Fellowship to support her work. Rhodessa is currently directing a "re-mix" of Sekou Sundiata's "Blessing the Boats."
