Status Messages Operation
3.22.2 SpO 2 Messages
Always have an alternate method of BP verification available.
On vasoconstricted patients, failure to evacuate air from the cuff can distort BP
measurement.
Do not place cuff on extremity that has an IV.
Cuff should be at heart level.
The following messages pertain to SpO 2 Operation.
MESSAGE REASON ACTION
SpO2: No Sensor Sensor is not plugged in to the
Passport 2.
Plug the sensor into the monitor
SpO 2: Sensor Off (Masimo
Only)
Sensor may not be connected
to the patient.
SpO 2: Interference Noise detected on the pulse
signal prevents pulse
discrimination.
SpO 2: Pulse Search Hardware settings are being
adjusted in order to
discriminate a pulse waveform.
SpO2: No Pulse (Nellcor Only) No detectable pulse is
measured.
SpO2: Failure The system has detected an
unrecoverable failure of the
SpO2 system.
SpO2: Low Perfusion
(Masimo Only)
SpO2: Too Much Light
(Masimo Only)
SpO 2 : Unrecognized Sensor
(Masimo Only)
Check patient connection.
Decrease patient motion, check
sensor.
Change to site where pulse is
stronger if patient is
vasoconstricted. Change or
readjust sensor if loose.
Check to patient connection
and patient status.
Power cycle unit. If message
reappears, call Mindray DS
Service.
Patient perfusion is low. Check to patient connection
and patient status.
There is too much ambient
room light for the sensor to
function properly.
The sensor is not recognized
by the Monitor.
SpO2: Communication Error The monitor and the SpO2 modules are not
communicating properly.
SpO2: Board Fault Masimo board failed to
operate properly.
Minimize the room light
around the patient. Check
sensor.
Replace the sensor with a
Mindray DS recommended
sensor.
Power the unit OFF / ON. If
problem persists, contact
Mindray DS Service.
Contact Mindray DS Customer
Support.
SpO2: Sensor Fault Defective Sensor. Replace sensor.
SpO2: Motion (Nellcor Only) Motion is detected. Decrease patient motion, check
sensor.
SpO 2: Check Sensor (Nellcor
Only)
The SpO 2 module has sensed
a poor connection or a bad
sensor.
Reconnect the same sensor. If
problem persists, replace
sensor.
