En 1827 su interés por la literatura oriental se ve reforzado por el conocimiento <strong>de</strong> la poesía china<br />
básicamente a través <strong>de</strong> traducciones al inglés y al francés. El 6 <strong>de</strong> enero muere Charlotte<br />
von Stein.<br />
El 14 <strong>de</strong> junio <strong>de</strong> 1828 muere el príncipe Carlos Augusto. <strong>Goethe</strong> se retira a Dornburg durante<br />
el verano.<br />
El escultor francés David d’Angers pasa dos semanas <strong>de</strong> verano <strong>de</strong> 1829 en Weimar y realiza un<br />
busto <strong>de</strong> <strong>Goethe</strong>. Concluye y publica Los años <strong>de</strong> viaje <strong>de</strong> Wilhelm Meister, así como Viaje a Italia.<br />
El 26 <strong>de</strong> octubre <strong>de</strong> 1830 muere Augusto, el hijo <strong>de</strong> <strong>Goethe</strong>, en Roma. Recibe la noticia el 10 <strong>de</strong><br />
noviembre.<br />
En julio <strong>de</strong> 1831 concluye la segunda parte <strong>de</strong> Fausto. En octubre acaba Poesía y Verdad.<br />
Aún en 1832 redacta un artículo sobre Pintura <strong>de</strong> paisaje y un esquema sobre Historia <strong>de</strong> la pintura<br />
<strong>de</strong> paisaje. Escribe su última carta, dirigida a Wilhelm von Humboldt, el 17 <strong>de</strong> marzo. <strong>Goethe</strong><br />
muere el 22 <strong>de</strong> marzo <strong>de</strong> 1832 en Weimar.
