professional designér and those starting. The profession rates no more
than 15 throughout the whole country and now considerable efforts are
being made nationally to train production workers and designers. The
country's very isolation and lack of understanding of indepth artistic
support is both a retardation and development value. Theatres are free
to experiment without traditional pressures, and expect and will get
productions at one quarter of the cost foreign budgets. Expediency and
resourcefulness are a way of life for the New Zealand designér.

Raymond
1953 přijel na Nový Zéland a začal pracovat jako stálý scénograf první
národní divadelní společnosti. V současné době je zástupcem ředitele

et metteur en scěne et scénographe de Popéra. II a pris part a la PQ
1983.
He came to New Zealand in 1953 as resident stage designér to the first
national drama company. He is actually associate director of Downstage
Theatre and director and stage designér of the opera. Exhibited at the
PQ in 1983.
