PROJET ENVOYE DANS LE CONCOURS D'ARCHITECTURE A UN<br />

NOUVEAU THEATRE NATIONAL JAPONAIS<br />

A la suitě des multiples demandes des couches les plus large de la<br />

population japonaise éprise de Part théátral, le Japon a Pintention<br />

ďériger un nouveau théátre national. Tandis que le théátre japonais<br />

traditionnel dispose déja ďun excellent Théátre national, une scěne<br />

pour les autres genres musicaux et dramatiques manque.<br />

Pour faciliter la réalisation de cette idée le gouvernement japonais a<br />

adopté en 1966 un décret relatif au Petit théátre national. Le Departement<br />

pour les Affaires culturelles a nommé un jury composé ďéminentes<br />

personnalités averbie de différents domaines qui a étudié pendant des<br />

années ce projet, Pa discuté et a élaboré sa conception fondamentale.<br />

Le gouvernement japonais donne la possibilité a participer a ce concours<br />

non seulement aux architectes japonais mais également aux architectes<br />

étrangers. Nous espérons que les architectes comprendront les intentions<br />

de ce projet et prendront part a ce concours avec enthousiasme.<br />

PROJECT OF ARCHITECTURAL COMPETITION FOR THE NEW NATIONAL<br />

THEATRE OF JAPAN<br />

In response to a great demand of the part of people related to stage art<br />

Japan is planning to erect a new national theatre. Where as the traditional<br />

Japanese theatre, has already an excellent national theatre a<br />

scene for other musical and dramatic forms is missing. The need 'for<br />

a suitable facility of this kind was appended to legislation in 1966, the<br />

time of the enactment of the law concerning National Theatre.<br />

A deliberating panel consisting of knowledgeable people from various<br />

field established by the Agency of Cultural Affairs has studied and<br />

discussed the project for a number of years and has wor<strong>ke</strong>d out a basis<br />

concept. The Japanese government is accepting design proposals from<br />

architects from Japan and other countries. It is our hope that the architects<br />

will understand the intentions behind this project and enter into the<br />

design competition with great enthusiasm.<br />
