”Memphis tennessee”, och ”No Particular Place to Go”), Bo Diddley (1928-2008, “You Don't Love Me”,
“I'm a Man”), Carl Perkins (1932-1998, “Blue Suede Shoes”), Little Richard (1932-, “Lucille”, “Long
Tall Sally”, “Good Golly Miss Molly”), Buddy Holly (1936-1959, “That'll Be the Day”) och Fats Domino
(1928-, ”Ain't That a Shame”, ”Blueberry Hill”, ”I'm Walkin”).
I Europa kom lite råare band som The Beatles (1957-1970, “Can't Buy Me Love”, “Twist and Shout”,
“She Loves You”, “Yesterday”) och The Rolling Stones (1960-, “I can’t get no Satisfaction”, “Play with
Fire”, “Honky Tonk Woman”, “Paint It Black”).
Till dess att dessa och andra brittiska band slog i USA dominerades hitlistorna där av smöriga sångare
som Rick Nelson (1940-1981), Neil Sedaka (1939-,”Oh Carol”, ”One Way Ticket (To The Blues)”,
”Breaking up is hard to do” och ”Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen”) och Connie Francis (1938-, sjöng
”Stupid Cupid”). Och det hände inte så mycket förrän hippierörelsen kom med flummiga band (vilket
kallas psykadeliska rockband) som: Mothers of Invention (1964-1969, därefter hette bandet Frank Zappa
& The Mothers för att sedan bara heta Frank Zappa fram till att Zappa dog 1993, ”Camarillo Brillo”,
”Bobby Brown”) , The Mamas and the Papas (1964-1968, ”California Dreamin'”, ”Monday, Monday”),
The Doors (1965-1973, ”Light My Fire”, ”Hello, I Love You”) och Jefferson Airplane (1965-1972,
”Somebody To Love”, ”White rabbit”).
