BANQUET/FUNCTION STAFF - CASUAL<br />
(Large venues)<br />
HUMAN FACTORS<br />
Reaches: Generally within range, ie, head height to mid thigh height.<br />
Heights: Ground to overhead height.<br />
Controls and displays: Handles for trolleys.<br />
Force exertion/lift: 35-40kg force for pushing trolley up ramps. 10kg lift of drink/food.<br />
Endurance required: Constant stand/walk.<br />
Static muscle loading: Mild to moderate for thoraco-lumbar region, as variety of dynamic postures acquired.<br />
Work/rest patterns: Thirty minutes break following five hours work. Toilet breaks, as required. Usually<br />
employed on a casual basis.<br />
Frequency of handling: Constant for serving drinks/food, for functions. Also varied depending on work load.<br />
Grasping requirement: Palmar for plates, cylindrical for trolley push.<br />
Size of article: Dinner plate size, glasses, lifting of chairs, etc.<br />
Tools: Bottle openers, waiter’s friend<br />
Protective clothing: Non-slip and closed-toed shoes, uniform.<br />
In smaller venues these tasks may be completed by food and beverage attendants, bar/club managers,<br />
