The vision falls naturally into the following sections:

Note that KiC' is used in three different ways: of the angel (v. 5a), the
ephah (vv. 5b, 6) and the women (v. 9) who took it away. This is
probably partly to produce a particular preponderance of sibilants and
glottal stops. Also the letter taw is introduced with it (e.g. PK^v). The
word also links with the preceding vision (5.3, 4)
nKT is used many times, including 7boc. Is it a mistake here? Or
deliberate multiplication of these sounds? Cf. also na'R (though nai),
v. 1 is not used in vv. 5-11).
KfoJ is also used in three different ways: of eyes (vv. 5, 9), of the lid
of the ephah (v. 7) and of the ephah itself (v. 9).
We are bound, then, to take notice of K:T and RtoJ. Other duplicate
words and phrases are as follows.
'3 "Qin "jK^nn, vv. 5, 10. Verses 10-11 form a new section in
which the prophet again engages in dialogue with the angel. Thus
vv. 5-6 and 10-11 are comparable. It is not the case that no interpretation
is given in vv. 7-9, but no questions are asked.
mm n>ya Mta, vv. 5-9. The forms are different here, but we have
already noted that v. 9 is the beginning of a subsection and thus
