8 RTK Mapping If you already own the GPS receivers and batteries, the following informationwillhelptodeterminewhichtypeofbatteriestouse: When setting up a base receiver, make sure that the chosen power source can provide an uninterrupted supply for the duration of the survey. This is particularly important if your base receiver is normally left unattended. Generally, a 6 AH or 10 AH battery will do, but for some applications a heavy-duty battery and general purpose battery cable may be the only reliable option. For roving receivers, make sure that the batteries are light enough to be carried for long periods. Camcorder batteries provide a reliable supply while adding minimal weight. 8.3.6 Setting Up a Base Station with the Asset Surveyor Software This section describes how to set up and start an RTK base station, using the Asset Surveyor software. Base station assembly: Series 4000 and Site Surveyor 4400 receivers 1. Set the GPS antenna over the ground mark using a tripod, a tribrach, and a tribrach adapter. 2.
