accepted <strong>and</strong> researched, CAM is an important addition to conventional<br />

approaches. As this chapter illustrates, CAM covers a wide array of interventions<br />

aimed at strengthening <strong>and</strong> healing the mind, body, <strong>and</strong> spirit.<br />

Adapting these therapies, practices, <strong>and</strong> systems for older persons <strong>and</strong><br />

their caregivers is an important next step in preparing our aging population<br />

for potential disaster.<br />
