The exhaust lead off is forward of the right hand<br />

cylinder block on LaSalle and Sixty engines. Exhaust<br />

piping system is on the right hand side of the chassis.<br />

On the <strong>Cadillac</strong> V-8 and Fleetwood the lead off is from<br />

the left side of the engine to accommodate the left side<br />

exhaust piping system on these models,<br />

Mufflers<br />

All mufflers and tail pipes are attached by rubber-insulated<br />

brackets which may expand endwise with heat.<br />

This prevents development of loose connections and<br />

forestalls transmission of noises and exhaust sounds to<br />

the body interior.<br />

LaSalle and <strong>Cadillac</strong> Sixty have a new, larger straight<br />

flow muffler attached to the right hand frame side bar.<br />

Exhaust gases pass directly through the muffler which<br />

reduces back pressure. The Sixty has a separate<br />

expansion chamber placed in the exhaust pipe ahead of<br />

the muffler. The exhaust spreader is no longer necessary.<br />

The muffler design for the Special, Custom V-8 and<br />

Fleetwood has also been improved by providing an<br />
