The control switch is of the push-pull type and is<br />

located at the left of the instrument panel above the<br />

starter button. It pulls out into three positions, the<br />

first of which is for parking. If the instrument board<br />

control is in its second or mid-way position, a foot<br />

button on the floor to the left of the clutch pedal permits<br />

the driver to switch his lights from City Driving to<br />

Safe, Non-glare Headlighting<br />

Country Driving. If it is in the third or outermost<br />

position, the foot button will switch the lights from<br />

Country Driving to Country Passing. This four way<br />

use of the foot button is an additional and exclusive<br />

feature of <strong>Cadillac</strong>s and LaSalle.<br />

To meet legal requirements, both headlamps use<br />

32-32 candlepower bulbs.<br />

Beam Indicator<br />

A light beam indicator on the speedometer dial tells<br />

the driver instantly in which of the three headlighting<br />

positions he is operating. This helps him avoid driving<br />

without lights or unintentionally blinding the oncoming<br />

driver. In parking the driver is less apt to leave the<br />

City Driving Lights on instead of the lower candle-<br />
