in its class.<br />

Circuit Breaker<br />

A circuit breaker is used in the electrical system to<br />

prevent damage to the system from any current overload.<br />

Should this occur, the heat generated causes the<br />

unit to break the circuit. As soon as the temperature<br />

of the unit returns to normal the unit closes itself<br />

automatically. Fuses are eliminated.<br />

Horns<br />

Two trumpet type horns are mounted on laminated<br />

springs to avoid transmission of vibration to the body.<br />

They are now located behind the grille and in front of<br />

the radiator core, vertically with trumpet downward.<br />

This gives the engine compartment a neater appearance,<br />

and improves engine accessibility.<br />

Ignition System<br />

The ignition system is designed to provide an uninterrupted<br />

flow of current through simplicity of construction<br />

and thorough weatherproofing. The coil is completely<br />

enclosed and of the iron-clad type. A condenser<br />

is mounted inside the distributor to protect the contact<br />

points from burning and to assist in building up a high<br />

secondary voltage. The distributor and timer are<br />

mounted in one unit of a special waterproof design to<br />

protect the terminals from moisture. The distributor<br />

is driven directly from the camshaft. Improved high<br />

tension wiring gives the new engines a neater appearance.<br />

Battery<br />

Batteries in all <strong>Cadillac</strong> V-8's and LaSalle are now<br />

placed under the hood on the right side just in front of<br />

the dash and above the starting motor. This greatly<br />
