new Sixty Special's three-inch pillars.<br />

The over-all width of the body center pillar between<br />

front and rear door has been decreased. Structurally,<br />

the pillar itself remains two inches wide and there is<br />

no reduction in strength. Through the use of narrow<br />

chrome window frames there is are duction in over-all<br />

width of one inch.<br />

As in the previous models, the windshield center<br />

division in all <strong>Cadillac</strong>s and LaSalle is less than two<br />

inches wide, hence is less than the interpupillary distance<br />

between the eyes and offers no obstruction to vision.<br />

Rear Compartment: Passenger comfort has been<br />

greatly improved by the provision of more leg room<br />

and better seating position in both front and rear<br />

compartments. The tonneau is longer and the floor<br />

lower, relative to the seat cushion. The rear compartment<br />

foot rest is in the back of the front seat and is<br />

more comfortable because of its improved angle.<br />

The body dimensions table on page 130 shows<br />

the rear seat to be four and one-half inches wider.<br />

The four-inch increase in shoulder width, however, is<br />

far more important to comfort than the increased hip<br />

width. Three average sized men require nine inches<br />

greater shoulder width than hip width. Also, this<br />

additional shoulder width has made possible the wider,<br />

more comfortable rear seat arm rests.<br />

Interior luxury is everywhere in evidence in the<br />

new <strong>Cadillac</strong> Sixty Special as a result of new upholstery<br />

fabrics trimmed in a novel style. The seat backs<br />

are trimmed with numerous vertical pleats. Seat cushions<br />

are plain. Wide leather panels decorate and protect<br />

the upper portion of the door panels. A new<br />
